Proud of the kids (and me)

There we were - Robbie, Annie, Daisy and myself loaded into the Subaru for a quick weekend trip to see my family in SC.

I will admit I was a little . . . concerned.

Given the lack of parental defense in depth I tried a new strategy as far as departure time.  We waited until right after lunch.  My thought was that let's get their tummies full and some milk in them and pray they fall asleep.  They did just that and I got a hour and half of quite in before I had to do other things to entertain.

The highlight of the visit was the Swamp Fox Chili cook off - great music (a little loud - Lord I sound old), great chili and they even had revolutionary war re enactors.  This was all good but the best thing as far as the kids were concerned was the fact that they had BALLONS!  It was also great to see old family friends most which Robbie and Anna Helen had not had a chance to meet until this past weekend.

And God bless Apa.  Couldn't have done it without her there.

We made it home safe and sound last night - the car looked like a bomb went off in it - but we made it safely.

Needless to say, we were all happy to see Susann and I think she was just as happy to see us.
