Family Outing

We took advantage of the gorgeous weather this morning to hit the Arboretum.  As you know it was a favorite maternity leave destination of Susann and Robster during that maternity leave.  How far we've come (on the second bridge picture Robbie's the same age AH is now.  Just more generous with the smiles!)

Work

So, I'm returning there.

Easing in.

Robbie's on it.

Anna Helen's not so sure.

Mom isn't either.

A Good Man

Whatever you want to say about Shawn, the consensus reigns:  he's a good man.

Better than a good man.

He's a great man.

He's a great father.  A great husband.  A great friend.

I'm lucky to have married my best friend, and I'm lucky to celebrate his 40th Birthday with him in a very unceremonious way: a toddler play date.

And oh yea, a no-kids trip to play in the World Series of Poker in June.

If our children turn out to be called good people by those who know them, it'll be because they had Shawn as a Dad.

I hope he teaches our children to love to read.

(But to buy those books digitally, because we are totally out of room to store them).

To cheer for Clemson football.

(And call for the coach's firing anytime we may lose to Carolina).

To dance with any man who asks, and to ask every girl in the room to dance.

(Even if what they lack in skill, they make up for in enthusiasm).

To live with a pure heart and good intentions at all times.

(Especially if the other person is being a grade A jerk).

To always put family first.

(Even if the other person is being a grade A jerk).

To always win at Trivial Pursuit.

(Unless the topic is spelling, but really, when do you have to spell anything in Trivial Pursuit.)

To care, to participate, and to have opinions that you are able to back up in politics.

(And to turn to CSPAN in lieu of CNN, MSNBC, or FoxNews).

Happy Birthday Shawn!  The world is a better place because you are in it.

Snow Day (ish)

Maybe Robbie can be a meterologist when he grows up.  What other job can you be totally wrong and still get paid?

(insert politician joke here)

Robbie and Shawn are disappointed that the 6-12 inches of snow didn't manifest.  That sled is getting dusty in the basement.

Mom would have been fine with 2-3.  Didn't get that either.

Just an 18-month trip to the pediatrician and a playdate with a couple neighborhood friends.

Just the way Shawn wanted to celebrate his 40th, I'm sure.

Baptism: Snapshots

Today we saved Anna Helen from eternal damnation...

You're welcome AH!

But seriously, we enjoyed an amazing day and celebration with family, friends, and our new-ish church that we've come to love.

More on the who, what, where, when later.  But today?

We are blessed.
