Family Photos

My brother, sister and I gifted my Mom with a family photo shoot for Mother's Day this year.  Unfortunately because it was a surprise, we couldn't do cheesy coordinated outfits.  And it was raining.  But I think we still succeeded!

That photographer is good with the photoshop!

Interrupted

Today's nine month post interrupted by a baby with the funk.

Multiple funks.

Maybe hand, foot, mouth.

Definitely some kind of stomach/bum flu.

Robbie was unimpressed with the reading options available at the doctors' office this afternoon.

Girlfriend

Another one of Robbie's future prom/homecoming/Sadie Hawkins day dates entered the world last Thursday.  Welcome to the world, Baby Johnston!

Robin and I have been chatting often as I remember those first few days and weeks.  As I told her, it is just about getting through.

I got lots of good advice that I was passed on, and thought I'd crowdsource this one out.

What's the best piece of advice you received in the first month?  What do you wish you had known before hand?

Included in my list that I passed along:
  • No "helping".  If hubby is going to do something, let him do it.  Don't correct or suggest or "lend a hand".  He's grown.
  • Drink LOTS of water, and those extra 500 calories are no joke when BFing.
  • Put yourself out there.  It's like being a freshman in college.  If you see another woman walking with a baby, introduce yourself.  Exchange phone numbers.
  • Get OUT of the house.  Take walks.  Go shopping.   Grab lunch with a friend.
  • This too shall pass.
Welcome to the world, Baby V.  You got some awesome parents.

Great weekend and an apology

We have had a great weekend here in river city.

The weather was great both days and Saturday was "get things done" day.  Grass cut at our house and the rental / car washed / air filters changed at rental / take the Robbie to the park / meet Aunt Angela for lunch -  and this was all by noon.

Today was a little easier and the weather was simply perfect.  We got Robbie out of the house for nice tour of some neighborhoods in Maryland that we are considering moving to next year.  Some very nice things but still not sure if we want to live in Maryland.

I also want to say that I was remiss in not mentioning the fact last Sunday (I did not blog because I was wiped from a weekend trip to Cincinnati) that I and Robbie had the great good fortune to have Pauline Edwards and Susann Edwards for Mothers.  I am sure there are some Moms out there who are just as good BUT there are NONE better.  Robbie and I thank you from the bottom of hearts for all you do and have done.  We love you.
