Save The Money!

My family knows well my constant desire to "save da moneyyy".

I am a coupon queen.  Saved over $1800 at the grocery store last year using coupons.

I google coupon codes before I buy anything online, and haven't paid shipping on an online purchase in years.

So when it came to the baby's room, neither of us could conceptualize spending the $2000 plus that most people spend on furniture plus glider plus bedding, etc.

Our nursery, including all of these things, came in at a grand total of under $850, including new paint.

Furniture is from Overstock.  The glider is from Craigslist, with a new slipcover thanks to our friends at Walmart.  Bedding set?  Amazon's 50% off sale.

Save da money!

(And its still cute, right?)

Time Limits

One of my colleagues for the last 6 weeks has been coming in every day and asking "how are youuuuuu" like she can't believe me when I said "feeling good".

She didn't love pregnancy.

And now that it has been over 95 degrees for a week straight, I get that she was waiting for me to get to a stage of miserable.

I'm definitely not MISERABLE, but I am starting to get uncomfortable.

Finally my feet are swelling, particularly if I wear any shoe other than a flat or flip flop.

I wore heels yesterday for about 45 minutes.  That was my time limit.

And I'm beginning to realize that Baby E is totally fine until 3pm or so every day.  He can stand to be at work at normal functioning level for about 7 hours.  Anything past that, he is starting to protest in the form of contractions.  From 3-5pm today, he was partying.  I was not.

But then again, I'm 36 weeks pregnant.  And its really damn hot.

I think I'm in pretty good form!

Braxton-Hicks?

I spent the afternoon googling things like "labor and barometric pressure"

"Early labor and thunderstorms".

"Difference between false and real labor pains"

Needless to say, I was in a little pain this afternoon.

Braxton-Hicks contractions, for those of you who don't know, are basically pre-labor pains.  They are your body getting prepped for real labor, and until today I thought I had them starting about three weeks ago when I had some unexpected bleeding.

Yea.  Those weren't Braxton-Hicks.  TODAY was B-H.  I'm hoping.  From about 2:30-4:30pm, I was getting contractions every 10-12 minutes.  And they HURT.

So I googled all the things above and decided to stop making myself crazy and just come home and put my feet up.

Now that the pain has gone away, the question has changed: "Braxton-Hicks, or the black beans I had for lunch?"

Times - they are a' changing

Well busy weekend.  Susann and spent most of Saturday morning and a couple of hours in the afternoon at the car dealership.  We are now the proud owners of a Ruby Red Subaru Outback.  We have been looking the last several months and after test driving several cars we settled on the Outback - "sporty yet economical".  I have to say for a station wagon it is a pretty cool ride - ok maybe not cool but nice.

They other major event of the weekend happened today - after 3 years of loyal service I decided it was time to sell my poker table.  Now before my friends think I have betrayed my gender let me explain why.  It is pretty simple - space.  Our poker table was HUGE.  You could easily sit ten players with no problem.  Our basement is not tiny but it certainly is not big either.  On top of that there was no place to store it except up against the wall taking up a great deal of space.  I have come to the conculsion that my cave is most likely going to be transformed into the "little man" cave so space is important.  While I am certainly more than willing to share the TV and couch area must be preserved.

Four weeks to go kids - stay tuned.
