Happy Birthday Grandpa

We made the trip to the center of the civilized world - Marion, S.C. - to celebrate my Dad's and Robbie's Grand Dad's birthday.  Dad has had a amazing life and is still going strong.

We got home early Friday afternoon and after a quick hug and kiss on the cheek for Susann and I we almost got run over because we had the poor judgement  to get between my Mom and her grandchild.  We had a great time most of the afternoon "visiting" and catching up on all the latest in Marion.  It was a long trip down but Robbie and Daisy were champs and we made it in good time.

Saturday was Dad's birthday and I believe he had a great one - lots of relatives stopping by to say happy b-day and more "visiting".  The day was capped off with a wonderful family birthday at the local seafood restaurant.  The food and company were great and Dad really appeared to enjoy himself.  Robbie was paraded around and got to eat soft serve ice cream for the first time.

We left fairly early this morning and Robbie and Daisy were great - 1 stop - and we made it home in 6 1/2 hours.

All and in all a great weekend - Thanks Dad for all that you have done and continue to do for our family - Happy Birthday.

Traffic

Of the interwebs kind.

Sometime this weekend, we passed 20,000 page views.

In just over a year, that means that there are a crazy amount of friends and relatives checking in on the every day doings of our boring lifes.

Either that or strangers googling such gems as "jack russells and jack hammers" and "all palmetto all the time", "what the heck do I do when the baby gets here", "3rd trimester panic", "will my dog eat my baby". and my personal favorite: "is my baby a dinosaur".

Whoever you are, welcome.

Let the wild rumpus continue.

A Confession

I confess.

The inability to breastfeed bothers the crap out of me.

I don't carry around the guilt that I had for months.  And I can't say that I'd still be doing it if I were able.  But not being able to?  Sucked.

So whats a type-A-why-isn't-this-working-what-else-can-I-do Mom to do?

Why, homemade baby food of course!

Again with the why.  Um... I'm not sure other than it makes me feel like I'm doing SOMETHING.  I can't say it saves a ton of money.  And it certainly isn't as easy as popping open a jar of Earth's Best...  But at the end of the day, it's not all that hard.

Cook the heck out of some veggies and fruits.  Puree.  Add oatmeal or baby cereal if you pureed too much.  Freeze.  Voila.

Guilt rectified.

Kind of.

The real confession?

I send the homemade food to school so everyone can be impressed with me and use Earth's Best at home.

I'm going to parenting hell.

One recent weekend hours' handiwork:

Kid tested.  Robbie approved.

Great Day in DC

We had a wonderful day today.  The weather was close to perfect.

We took Robbie to a wonderful playground (unfortunately not in our neighborhood) where he got to do some cool things for the first time.  He took to the swing like he was born for it - HUGE smiles.  Then we went on to the slides and last but not least we got on the seesaw (teeter totter to you Yankees).  He liked them all A LOT.

We got back to the house and got some stuff taken care of and then took Daisy and Robbie out for a walk around the neighborhood.

Finished the day with giving Robbie his bath.  He is starting to really enjoy bath time.
